Forging Through Fear: Affirmations For Moving Forward

For me, it’s a thick, dense fog that coats my desires and clouds my motivation, keeping me from seeing around or beyond the haze. It’s a network of spindly tentacles that wraps its sinuous limbs around my throat, yanking at my hair, pulling me in a different direction — quickly, callously — as my goal shrinks in size off in the distance. It’s a torrential downpour that erases every detail it touches, washing over any indication that there was anything there before it.

I’m talking about fear that I am not enough. Good enough. Smart enough. Kind enough. Patient enough. Exciting enough. Living up to my potential enough.

At times it keeps me in my place and stops me from moving forward with my plans towards my purpose. It halts my progress, turning my baby steps into a painfully slow, incremental crawl. It’s uncomfortable, frustrating, disheartening, disorienting to feel so divorced from your ability to accomplish what you want — even when you know deep down in your heart that you can.

Our chakras are an awesome personal tool for healing ourselves through connecting with issues that lie beneath the surface of our action or inaction. It’s never a replacement for professional help for serious issues with panic disorders, depression or other mental health situations that require additional support, although I highly recommend using it in conjunction with any current treatment.

When we experience reoccurring and paralyzing fear or anxiety when it comes to accessing our gifts, expressing our inherent light and living our purpose, it’s time to check in on the health of our solar plexus chakra. Because this powerhouse chakra is all about action and progress, we feel stuck when we aren’t utilizing the fire intensity that’s designed to propel us. It’s pure warrior energy is related to our self esteem, will power and a balanced, deliberate type of control that’s not rigid or suffocating.

When our solar plexus is open and activated, we feel encouraged, ambitious and emboldened to pursue our soul’s purpose. When it’s blocked, our trust in ourselves begins to falter, we doubt our capacity actualize our highest desires and we lose confidence in ourselves. As soon as you start to feel those butterflies in your stomach or that lump in your gut, it’s a clear sign that it’s time to work on your solar plexus chakra.

Working with the robust, yellow energy of the solar plexus can help us to release some of the fear or anxiety that prevents us from embodying our self worth. It can reinvigorate our sense of personal power, self confidence and boost our self-esteem. Just think of how bold the color yellow is. It commands our attention and stands out brightly and unapologetically. That is the energy the solar plexus asks us to embody.

To start working with your solar plexus, begin with the messages you are sending that energy center. Pay attention to your thoughts and work on replacing anything that doesn’t strengthen your trust in your self or drains you of your personal power.

If you need some ideas of thoughts to replace the negative self-talk, here are some affirmations you can use when you feel yourself slipping away from your inner strength. Pick one that really resonates with you and stick with it for a few days to see how it feels.

  • I have the power to manifest my dreams
  • I am powerful and walk through life with courage
  • My confidence comes from within because I accept myself exactly how I am
  • I can do anything I desire
  • I am enough
  • I am worthy
  • I flow through life with ease because I trust myself
  • I am strong, bold and ready to live out loud
